10 facts about Zara that you never expected

At Zara, you always succeed, because once inside, this is the shop that is at home in all markets. Directly from the runway (because they can apparently deliver within a week) to the very best classics: you will find everything and much more with our Spanish friends from Zara. By the way, they didn't want to be called Zara at all. How so, and 8 more facts you never expected about our favorite shopping address, I will tell you right here, right now:

1. Did you know that Zara didn't want to be called Zara at all? In 1975, the first Zara store opened, which was initially supposed to be named Zorba, but that name was at the last minute already taken. What a bummer...

2. The average Zara shopper visits the store about 17 times a year. Yep, we definitely surpass that, yes. I mean: we are still above average good at something, right?

3. Zara is part of the Inditex family (the largest retail company in the world), which also includes Massimo Dutti, Pull & Bear, and Bershka.

4. Every three weeks, Zara presents a completely new collection. So it's really impossible to visit 17 times a year...

5. Zara's design team is even able to respond to a new trend within a week and deliver the design to stores in that same week. Just for comparison: other retailers take an average of half a year to do this.

6. Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber also shop ‘just’ at Zara.

7. And Kate Middleton, by the way, does too. Not only is she a fan for herself, but also for George and Charlotte. Additionally, she likes to shop in the Zara Home section for her home.

8. Zara does not do advertisements. Their tactic? A relatively large number of people walk into the stores (and online, in the webshop) out of curiosity to see all the new things.

9. The 87-year-old founder of Zara, Amancio Ortega Gaona, was according to Forbes in 2013 with a fortune of (good afternoon!) 82 billion dollars the second richest man in the world.

10. Zara has more than 2220 stores spread across 88 countries. In the Netherlands, there are 29. The largest Zara flagship store in the Netherlands is located in Rotterdam, on the Coolsingel, including 8,000 square meters of shopping space and five floors.
