The fashion trend we can't get used to: the cow print

the cow print

Although Maison Margiela's ‘Tabi’ model has been worn by many fashion enthusiasts for years, the shoe with the split (between your toes!) might just be about to become a real trend. Whether you prefer to wear boots, are a true sneaker freak, or swear by a ballerina or loafer: Tabi's are now available in all colors, materials, and thus also models. The shoe was inspired by the ancient traditional Japanese sock, something that has everything to do with Margiela's trip to Tokyo. He thought: I can make something like that too, but with a heel underneath. And so it happened. Now, 35 years later, the shoe has its fair share of haters, but it certainly also has a growing army of fashion fans and is bubbling up again.

Why is it still difficult for us to get used to the Tabi shoe after all this time? Your big toe is in a different section than your other four toes. In between: a considerable split that makes the look of the shoe quite resemble a cow's hoof, if you ask us. Who thinks differently? The models last week during Milan Fashion Week, but also Kylie Jenner and Dua Lipa. Could this be the moment? Will we be walking in hoof slippers in about four months? Personally, I don't think so, but who knows. Because let's be honest: they do look good on the types below. ugly but cool.
