FIG SALAD WITH PARMESAN CHEESE

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: the most delicious fig salad with Parmesan cheese.

Although we love it, salad has a difficult image. It is seen as diet food, stuffy and/or only for rabbits. It is precisely this image that Welmoed Benzoel aims to change with her book the Salad Bible putting an end to it. Nothing boring and stuffy, salads come in all shapes and sizes. With 230 (!) different recipes to prove this, you will find a salad for everyone in this book. We are already giving you the recipe for the salad with figs and Parmesan cheese.

Although I recently saw a video that made me almost afraid to eat figs anymore, I can't get enough of them. This salad is also super quick and easy to make.

Preparation: 20 min
Servings: 4

Ingredients
4 tbsp olive oil
2 onions, sliced into thin half rings
4 tbsp balsamic vinegar
100 g arugula
8 figs, quartered
50 g hazelnuts, roasted
75 g Parmesan cheese, shaved
salt and pepper

Here's how to make the fig salad with Parmesan cheese
1. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté for 10 minutes.
2. Remove the pan from the heat and add the balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper. Let it cool for a moment.
3. Mix the sautéed onions with the arugula and place on a plate.
4. Garnish the salad with the figs, hazelnuts, and Parmesan cheese.
