These are the best date ideas for girlfriends

Two women laughing in the club toasting cocktails

If you're lucky enough to live within biking distance of your girlfriends, then you should count your blessings. I once lived even within Louboutin distance of my best friend Kim, and looking back, that was the best time of my life. We were constantly at each other's places, going out every Friday was more of a rule than an exception, and we experienced a different wild adventure every week. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that we were 25 and chronically broke but fluttering through life oh so happily; I look back on it with a big smile.

Unfortunately, even the best parties have a last round, and so she decided two years ago to move in with her great love who doesn't exactly live within Louboutin distance of our city. No, he lives in the land of cherry pie and the soft 'g', where my ordinary Children for Children accent is experienced as extraterrestrial: Limburg. It hasn't made our friendship any less strong, on the contrary. We do have to work a bit harder to see each other, and we always enjoy doing something fun together since the times of aimlessly fluttering around are now miles behind us. Do you recognize yourself in this? I compiled the best dates for girlfriends.

High wine/beer/cocktail
You can think of anything these days, and it exists. You can go to different restaurants for a high tea, wine, beer, or cocktail, where you can chat about everything that's been on your mind lately while enjoying your favorite drink. Pro tip: come up with a dress code that you all have to adhere to for an extra layer of fun and (also not unimportant) envy-inducing stylish new photos for your Instagram.

Go to a show
This can be anything. Swoon away at a beautiful musical, go to a comedy show, or, this is my moment to flex with my tickets, visit a concert of your favorite artist. I'm going to see Harry Styles in June, and I. Can't. Wait. Throw in a pre-drink and a dinner, and your evening can't go wrong.

Dance like nobody's watching
The best memories I have with my girlfriends are those nights when we danced until our feet almost fell off. No wallflower behavior for us, no, we were almost on the bar together. No matter how tired I am, I'm always up for a night out where our favorite songs play non-stop and our responsibilities don't exist for a while. Absolutely call me.

Shop & stroll
If all these extroverted activities are a bit too much for you, then go shopping in a place you've never been before. It can be another city or a market you normally never visit. Whatever it is, there's nothing better than wandering around in a nice athleisure set with a coffee to go in your hand; truly healing for the soul.

Host a themed dinner
If there's anyone who is a queen at coming up with themes, it's my friend Bo. Her birthday is like a Met Gala for me, where I look forward to what the theme will be each year, because that usually means I get to go shopping again. And although this is unfortunately just an annual event, I see no reason not to carry this mentality over to monthly drinks and dinners. Did someone say a Y2K dinner with Britney's greatest hits and disco balls in abundance? Count me in.
