Weekendtip: GLUE Amsterdam

Yesterday, the most fun weekend tip for the upcoming days started: GLUE Amsterdam. From September 14 to September 17, you can visit various places in Amsterdam to admire special Amsterdam designers and their works. From architecture to brands, in showrooms, galleries, and more; a must-visit for every design lover and good news: it’s completely free.
Coincidentally, I spoke to the owners of Studio 23:23 (on the tennis court, that’s where you meet people) who are also part of GLUE this year. In a beautiful building on the Keizersgracht, they showcase their amazing projects, all made with a 3D printer. I, as a complete design novice, have always had a huge fascination for these kinds of printers: I still find it hard to grasp how they work and how one can create such beautiful creations with them. For example, they can make a 3D print of your own brain (how cool), but they also have beautiful ceramic designs. And I want those in my house right away…

From the Keizersgracht to Hotel Arena: there is live performance art and a DJ act tonight by Sandra and Ignite Amsterdam. The theme of GLUE this year is ‘Stretching the Definition of Design’ and therefore Sandra Keja-Planken, in collaboration with Hotel Arena, has transformed their rooms, but also set up a beautiful exhibition. So go there tonight to admire the beautiful objects from Urban Reef, Marijke de Cock, and Rutger de Regt, among others. And of course, to grab a drink as well.
But there is still much more to do in the upcoming days around GLUE Amsterdam, so definitely check the site for all the info. It’s on until September 17, so here you have already partially filled your weekend. You’re welcome.
