All the things you have to cry about if you are a sensitive type

Call me a sensitive egg, but I can really cry about anything. It was like that even back then. When kids were mean because I looked like a walking blade of grass or when something didn't go as I had it in my head, the faucet would open. I was also labeled highly sensitive at an early age. Or well, labeled sounds so negative; I actually don't mind being a bit more sensitive than the average person. It has brought me many good things, especially now that I'm older, and I've been able to turn my sensitivity into my strength. Still, those tears are part of the life of a sensitive and emotional person, so here it is: all the things you have to cry about if you're a sensitive type.
Advertisements
Thank you ads, commercials with puppies and babies, and don't even get me started on those extremely emotional Christmas commercials that supermarkets come up with every year. Like that family that invites the lonely neighbor for Christmas dinner or an old man who sits alone eating with a picture of his deceased wife next to him while the neighborhood kids surprise him with a load of Christmas lights in the front yard. Just stop. I know these ads are made to play on your emotions so you'll do all your shopping there, yet I keep falling for it with open (and wet) eyes.
Sweet videos on the internet
As a highly sensitive TikTok addict, this is of course the worst thing you can do to yourself, but sometimes I get lost in a sea of videos about dogs seeing their owners again after a long time, soldiers coming home unexpectedly early, and children taking their first steps. Even every cliché pregnancy announcement, complete with sugary background music, manages to make me burst into hysterical tears.
Having a bad day and then breaking something
Imagine this: you've had a terrible day at work. You overslept and once at the office, the tasks piled up while your boss kept loading you with even more tasks. At home, you managed to make a healthy meal (overworked, but still) and while washing your dishes, you accidentally break a glass. Such a stressful day is already enough to make your eyelid twitch, but when something breaks on top of that, you can really sweep me up.
Stubbing your toe
Or accidentally hurting yourself in another way. I am, besides being very sensitive, also extremely clumsy. I know, I can't keep track of my own envy-inducing character traits either. This combination regularly results in a tear or two. For example, my showerhead fell on my head the other day while I could finally stand under the shower after a long and stressful day, only to find out that the water was lukewarm and my showerhead holder was broken. Luckily, I can laugh about it now, but back then: tears.
A panicky hangover cat
Oh dear, the hangover of all hangovers. You had the time of your life the night before and probably drank a lot, because the next day you're worth nothing. You wake up with the driest mouth of your life and a stone in your stomach while your heart beats so fast it feels like it's going to fly out of your chest. Will you ever feel normal again? Why don't those two liters of water and two paracetamol help, and will you survive this? Aside from all the physical discomforts that such a hangover brings, also come all the overwhelmed emotions you've ever had on such a day. Result? Drama and panic everywhere.
Fortunately, there is also good news for all sensitive types reading this: crying is actually very healthy. The next time you feel those inevitable tears coming up again: just give in, watch one more sad video, and let those tears flow freely.
