As a resident of Amsterdam, I know: you can really have a hard time with choice stress in this city. It's actually a luxury position, because there are so many nice, good, and fine restaurants in our capital. And every week, a new hotspot is added. Time to take stock, thought Het Parool.
And that's why Het Parool made a list of the 12 best-rated (by culinary journalist Mara Grimm) restaurants of 2022. Here they come.
The 12 best restaurants in Amsterdam of 2022
1. VRR
I love the columns of Mara Grimm, because that's how I discover all kinds of new restaurants. Like this one; I didn't know VVR yet, but it received a 8.5 in Het Parool and now I obviously have to go there.

2. Public Space
Amsterdam-Noord is hip and happening and a place like Public Space proves that once again. They also received an 8.5 — so definitely stop by soon.

3. Paon Bali
You can really wake me up at night for Indonesian food, so I was very happy with this spot on KNSM island. A big plus: the food here is divinely delicious, yet very affordable. And that's nice, considering that everything has become quite expensive. By the way, they received an 8.5 from Het Parool again.

4. Nela
I haven't seen any spot mentioned as much in the past months as Nela. Just opened, but already a lot of regular guests. Understandable: the food is top-notch, but the whole ambiance there is ideal for a night out.

5. Hap-Hmm
If you're not in the mood for a trendy place, but would rather have a real Dutch meal in a homely atmosphere, then this is your spot. And how delicious can such a AVG'tje be? Really very tasty.

6. Dun Yong Kitchen
I've wanted to eat here for so long, but I simply haven't managed to because of the long lines at the door. Yes, such a review can cause quite a stir; this spot received a 9 and since then it's been packed at all times.

7. De Hapjeshoek
Those lines I mentioned above, they know all about it at De Hapjeshoek too. A ridiculously small place in a metro station… Can that be good? Uh, YES. Divine delicious and after this review, all of Amsterdam knew about it and it exploded in terms of busyness.

8. Cornerstore
By now you can plan an entire day (multiple, actually) in Noord and just eat delicious food. Cornerstore in Noord received a 9 and has been on my to-do list since then.

9. Chez Nina
Vegans, you want to know this place. The menu here is completely vegetarian and the food is so incredibly delicious. And very nice: super affordable. It earned them an 8.5 from Het Parool.

10. Cafe Beurre
A few doors down you will find this hotspot. Just a heads up: you can't make reservations here, so it's either waiting or lucky to find a free table. However, that chance is not very big after the 8.5 from Het Parool.

11. Bistro de la Mer
Funny: on Google, this place doesn't even get very good reviews. At the time of writing, they have 3.9 stars, and that's while the 9 from Het Parool received.

12. Bar du Champagne
I am very happy with this new hotspot (which, good to know, is closed from Monday to Wednesday). Mega good food, a great atmosphere and well, that champagne of course. They received a 9 from Het Parool, but I would give it a 9.5. Top place.
