The AI version of Kendall Jenner is under fire

You may have missed it, but a new (and bizarre, I think) step has been taken in the world of AI. Several celebrities have sold their looks to Meta, to link an AI personality to it. How exactly does that work? Well, you can now chat with Billie, who looks like Kendall Jenner (‘your ride or die’ in New York City), or with Amber, also known as Paris Hilton (‘detective partner for solving whodunnits’), but also with Dungeon Master, from Snoop Dogg (‘choose your own adventure with the dungeon master’). According to rumors, Kendall received between one and five million dollars for this — quite a hefty amount.

And in return, Meta is now the owner of her face, although it has been given the name Billie. To be honest, I don't really understand the purpose of this; you can chat with a robot (just by sending a DM on Instagram) to have a conversation about anything, its face is Kendall Jenner but with the name Billie. So you're still just chatting with a robot, and despite the fact that you know you're not talking to Kendall, her face is still attached to it? Seems to me like asking for trouble.

That seems to be the case, as the first problems have already arisen. A user started a conversation with the AI and began to challenge it a bit. One thing led to another, and the conversation turned to the topic of ‘abortion’. AI-Kendall (everyone can call her Billie but this is more fitting, I think) indicated several times that she is pro-life, meaning against abortion. And that rubs many people the wrong way.

It's not that Kendall herself is against abortion (she has repeatedly stated to be pro-choice), but fans are not happy with this variant of AI and hold it against Kendall anyway. In a way, it's also logical, since her face is above it.

Not that AI-Kendall is always against abortion; it seems to depend a lot on the kind of conversation you have with ‘her’ and how you start. Many people have different experiences, she says she is actually pro-choice; it's really a different kind of character you meet in the chat each time. At least, the AI version has no problem with Kendall selling her identity for money.

Am I the only one who finds the whole AI thing a bit creepy? I can hardly bear to think about how much further this will go in the coming years...
