Kiki's Spain Writings: ‘Llíber has conquered my heart!’

Good morning, my little hearts! Time for a new week full of Spanish adventures. After a few weeks on the mountain with my mom, it was time for action in the taxi, so we took the car for a mini vacation in Llíber, a still unspoiled, lovely village in the province of Alicante.
While I type this, I look out over the vineyards of the Jalon valley. San and I checked in a few days ago at Villa Rosa, the finca where we are invited to stay for a few nights. And god, I have actually become fond of the dog, Rosa. Never thought as a cat lady, but trust me: move to Spain and you will slowly become a dog person too.
Anyhow, owners Daphne and Rick saw our house search on Insta and it reminded them of their own journey: quitting your office job to ultimately pursue your dreams. They also started their search in Ibiza, but ended up in the Costa Blanca area. Llíber captured their hearts and I understand WELL why. It is beautiful here!

Also such a cozy coincidence: this couple has just as much passion for hospitality and gastronomy. Whether I even dare to step on the scale is the question, but honestly: I am totally willing to do it, because every morning they serve breakfast here from fine dining heaven consisting of a sweet and a savory component. From super fresh sourdough with avocado mousse, scrambled eggs with fresh truffle and Eggs Benedict chef’s style to pancakes, French toast and churros with edible flowers. You can already tell: we are completely spoiled. In the meantime, we have also thrown all our principles overboard (we said we wouldn't drink for a while), but that is just not possible here.
In the meantime, San and I are completely excited about all the right motivational spots and we are eager to pick up the house search again. In the past weeks, we mainly received a lot of demotivating messages about everything that is still not possible/Spanish nonsense/difficult, and then it is nice to be able to approach it with hope again.
What this mini-holiday has produced is that we now have more direction in the search for the first time: we also want to look in the Jalon valley. It’s a kind of green Ibiza oasis, so you pay more per square meter. Where we initially thought we wanted a large house in the countryside, the goal has now been refined to: a more compact house, but in a lively neighborhood.

I initially thought we wouldn't find it chill at all to be in a neighborhood where many Dutch people live, but honestly: it’s actually super nice to surround yourself with like-minded souls who are also building what you are currently in and with whom you can easily communicate in your mother tongue.
We will pack our bags again after a lovely week of recharging full of new insights. Villa Rosa, thank you for all the good care, y hasta la proxima vez!
PS: All tips for cool houses in the north of Costa Blanca are more than welcome. Please send me a message on @kikiduren, I like it!!
