Want to make: the matcha Margarita

By
Matcha Margarita

It took me a while before I liked it, I really had to learn to drink this, but everyone said it was oh so healthy, so I persevered and yes: for a while now I am also a matcha drinker. Not that I suddenly feel a lot healthier and I find that of course disappointing, but that might also be a bit my own fault. I have actually found ways to make it taste incredibly good, so yes: I mixed it with alcohol.

All credits go to Kourtney Kardashian; this is the cocktail she swears by. This Kardashian member is of course a fan of everything that contains matcha: matcha lattes, matcha pancakes, matcha smoothies… And thus also matcha Margaritas, so far my favorite recipe.

Believe me: you want to make this too. There are different recipes (even one with green peppers if you like it spicy), but below you will see the recipe for the matcha Margarita that I find the tastiest. It is also the easiest to make. Perfect for the upcoming drinks.

The recipe comes from The Sage Apron, where you can find many more other cocktail recipes. So if you are going to host a cocktail party soon, this is the place where you can get inspired. Their Cucumber Mojitos I also find mega delicious, for example.

Here's how to make the matcha Margarita

Ingredients:
– Cocktail shaker
– Strainer

Ingredients:

For the salty rim on the glass
– 1 tablespoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon matcha powder

For the matcha syrup
(you need this to make the cocktail, with these ingredients you can make about 12)
– 1/2 cup lukewarm water
– 1/5 cup granulated sugar
– 1 tablespoon matcha powder

For the cocktail
(one piece)

– Lime wedges
– 60 ml tequila (tip: buy tequila of a bit of quality, it makes your cocktail so much better)
– 30 ml lime juice
– 15 ml Triple Sec
– 15 ml of the matcha syrup
– Ice cubes to shake in the cocktail shaker

Instructions:

Salty rim on the glass
– Mix the ingredients together and place it on a plate

Matcha syrup
– Blend all the ingredients in a blender until it is a whole and a bit frothy (about one minute). If you store it airtight, you can keep it in the fridge for up to a month.

Cocktail
– Just a lime wedge to wet the edges of your glass and then press your glass into the mix of matcha powder and salt
– Add the tequila, lime juice, Triple Sec, and matcha syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
– Pour the Margarita through a strainer and there you have it! It takes less than five minutes and it’s really top-notch.
