This is what it means if it rains on your wedding

Together: it’s like raahiiihaaaaiiin, on your wedding daaaay. There is nothing ironic about it, as Alanis Morissette wanted us to believe, but it is a bummer. And you might think that you are safe in the summer in the Netherlands, but nothing could be further from the truth; last week it poured down from the sky and the weather forecasts are not exactly cheerful...
But yes, you can perhaps reschedule your birthday, or you can try to find another location last minute. With a wedding, that becomes a bit trickier. So what to do? There is only one thing to do: embrace that rain. There are actually many advantages to rain on your wedding.
At least if you are a bit superstitious. Spiritually, rain symbolizes happiness, fertility, life, and renewal. The Hawaiian god of rain, Lono, is also the god of fertility. And starting a family is often on the agenda for people getting married, and rain would therefore be a very good omen.
Also in Hinduism, rain on your wedding is a very good sign. Here it also stands for renewal and life, but also for commitment and abundance. In ancient times, they saw rain as a gift, something to cherish and not take for granted. Rain was seen as gratitude from the gods above, to thank and reward people for everything they did. Look, that’s another way to look at all this.
And last but certainly not least, rain on your wedding would also mean that your marriage remains strong and holds up, but also that your life together will know great prosperity. Ka-ching. Let that rain come, I say.
