Research shows: men listen with only half of their brain

Okay, this is for the men: they really can't help it that they don't listen to you at all. A study from the Indiana School of Medicine shows that men listen not only with half an ear but also with half a brain. In this study, a brain scan was made of 20 men and 20 women while they listened to an audiobook through headphones. They found that men actually only listen with their left hemisphere, while women use both hemispheres.

This is exactly the reason why women can effortlessly follow two conversations at once, while you shouldn't expect your man to have heard you at all when you ask him to do the shopping while he is reading an article on his phone. This doesn't mean that men are generally bad listeners. The trick is to tackle them with an important topic at a moment when they are not distracted. Since all listening focus is on the left hemisphere, there should be no noise on that line. It is even said that women are worse listeners because their both hemispheres continuously pick up stimuli, making them work harder to focus on a conversation. Well, together you can manage, but know that the poor man really can't help it if he asks for the third time what you are actually saying, although you would of course never admit that to him.
