Netflix comes with interactive romcom Choose Love

Choose to love

The most common criticism that romcoms receive is that they are incredibly predictable. Nine times out of ten (okay, maybe ten out of ten), you already know within the first five minutes which two will end up together. Sometimes this predictability is actually nice, but other times you want to be a little surprised.

And Netflix understands this all too well, which is why the streaming service is coming out with an interactive romcom. Whut? Choose Love will be online on August 31, and the name gives it away a bit: you can choose how it ends yourself. Netflix has experimented with this before with Black Mirror, and now it's the romcom genre's turn.

Choose Love is about Cami, played by Laura Marano (who was previously seen with Noah Centineo in The Perfect Date), who has enormous choice stress. Three potential loves, three different men, each with their pros and cons. She absolutely cannot choose herself — and so you, as the viewer, get to do that.

Does she stay with her boyfriend Paul, choose the handsome Jack, or give the artist Rex a chance? I am so curious how this works in practice, and actually also how many extra scenes they had to shoot for all three of these men and different endings. The trailer looks promising in any case, although I think I will choose the safe option and let Cami marry her current boyfriend Paul. Although a rockstar life with Rex also seems appealing to me...
