Netflix Tip of the Day: Reptile

Reptile

Thriller lovers, there is something very nice for you online again. A new movie on Netflix that falls into a category that is one of my personal favorites: the whodunnit category. And also with stars like Benicio Del Toro, Alicia Silverstone, and… Justin Timberlake. As for the latter, I’m not completely convinced yet, but after seeing the trailer, I was — this looks very exciting.

Reptile is the name of the movie, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It is the first film by director Grant Singer, who previously did many music videos for Taylor Swift — and if you know how perfectionistic she is, then you know this is a pretty good resume.

The film is about detective Tom Nichols (Benicio Del Toro) who has to investigate a case: a murder has been committed, and it is his task to find out who the perpetrator is. Not a very innovative plot in itself, but the film is very well developed and you genuinely have no idea who it could be, as there are multiple suspects.

Reptile is thrilling, bloody, and manages to maintain the tension really well until the end. Viewers on Rotten Tomatoes are also enthusiastic, and the film is called ‘the best in a long time’. So, watch it.

Fun fact: it is loosely based on the murder of Lindsay Buziak, a Canadian realtor — and that murder is still unsolved.
