TikTokker shares the question you should never answer during a job interview

Job interviews: guaranteed sweaty palms, an increased heart rate, and stumbling over your words. At least that's the case for me, as I've never been a pro at it. Also because I often find the questions so unnecessary: isn't it true that the first impression says almost everything? And unless you give really weird answers to the question about your areas for improvement or where you see yourself in five years, I don't believe those answers really influence whether they will hire you or not.
But did you know that certain questions aren't even allowed to be asked? That's what TikToker LifesLittleLies tells us. Admittedly: this mainly applies to America, but much is also the case in the Netherlands.

At first glance, the questions may seem very innocent, but they actually shouldn't be asked. For instance, they shouldn't ask about your age, ethnicity, gender, disabilities, sexuality, and marital status, because these things should not influence their decision on whether to hire you or not.
And yet this is often asked here, often in an innocent way. Even the question of whether you have children is actually not done if you take it very strictly. Of course, it can be asked out of genuine interest, but you don't have to answer this if you don't want to.
According to this TikToker, the best response would be: ‘The answer to this question will not affect my abilities for this position, so I don't think it's necessary to answer it’ or something along those lines. Admittedly: there's a chance the interviewer might be quite taken aback and therefore not give you the job, but on the other hand: you wouldn't want to work there anyway, right?
