Science says: being tipsy makes you more productive

Has that Friday afternoon drink already started? No? Then you should change that very quickly, and then keep working for a bit, because there’s a good chance you’ll get your work done just fine. According to research, you are actually a lot more productive when you work tipsy, and that’s of course good news on a Friday.
And there are not just one, but multiple reasons for that. For instance, you have fewer brakes when you’ve had a drink, and that works very well when you’re working. You then allow your creativity to flow more and are less likely to procrastinate. So it’s all good news.
But that creativity is good for even more things at work; according to research, too much focus can actually backfire and hinder your creativity. Alcohol makes you more creative, which means you might solve problems you’ve been facing all week.
And lastly, it helps against stress. So if you have to work a lot of overtime or generally experience a lot of stress at work, then a small amount of alcohol can significantly reduce that.
Do you think I’m making this up? Absolutely not: the University of Illinois has conducted extensive research on this. But they are not the only ones: being tipsy at work is a hot topic for researchers.
Harvard did that as well, but in a slightly different context. They compared how people worked when they were tipsy and when they were sleep-deprived. The conclusion: the tipsy employees performed significantly better than the employees with a lack of sleep.
So, what are we waiting for? CHEERS.
