This is how you gain more confidence in the bedroom

Whether you're a pro in the bedroom or just getting a taste of the world of love and desire, we all feel insecure in bed at times. Maybe you quickly turn off the lights at the mere thought of a sexual encounter on the agenda, prefer that your partner doesn't touch certain body parts, or think only about your back rolls and cellulite during the act, which you really only see yourself. All very normal, but those insecurities can really get in the way when you just want to relax. Fortunately, there is plenty to do to give your self-confidence in the bedroom—and thus your sex life—a well-deserved boost.

1. Self-love, self-love, self-love
To feel your best naked, it's more important to change your beliefs than to change what you see in the mirror. First, be a little kinder to yourself. Do you expect more from yourself than from other people? Would you talk just as critically about a friend's body, or even a stranger? Of course not! So stop that quickly and focus on what you like about yourself.

2. Connect with your body
The best way to connect with your body is to do something that makes you feel sexy and alluring. Think of a pole fitness class, yoga, or dancing. This helps you get to know your body, which will likely make you feel a lot more confident in your skin. And who knows, you might even learn a few new tricks to blow your partner away.

3. Get out of your head
I know: my number one advice is always ‘stay in the now’ while I myself mostly skip through life daydreaming. But in the bedroom, it can bring you so much to focus more on the here and now and less on all the thoughts racing through your head. Stay in the moment by paying attention to your breathing and how the sheets feel against your body, and you'll see that you can enjoy all the nice touches from your partner much faster and are less easily distracted by negative thoughts.

4. The lingerie effect
Let's be honest: living in sweatpants and grandma underwear doesn't make anyone feel better about themselves. So don't underestimate the power of a beautiful lingerie set, even if you wear it just for yourself. And let's be real: you wouldn't turn down an excuse to buy something nice for yourself, would you?

5. Accept compliments
Did you know that people tend to accept only a third of the compliments they receive? Stop that quickly! Learning to receive compliments is an act of self-love, and the more you do it, the more you'll believe that you truly deserve to be here, even with the lights on and your clothes off.
