Caution: according to research, these signals lead to infidelity

You know what they say: once a cheater, always a cheater. One of the few sayings I absolutely believe in, but cheating isn't that black and white. New research has shown that there are various signals before the actual cheating that already indicate that something is amiss. Beware: these signals can also occur in the most stable relationships.

According to this new research, cheating is just one of the symptoms of a relationship going in the wrong direction. Well, we were already aware of that, right? It often happens that something is already wrong and that certain things are therefore sought elsewhere.

That was not the most striking conclusion from this research, which was conducted among nearly a thousand people in Germany. They were followed for eight (holy shit, you would have said β€˜yes’ to this) years in their relationship.

So what was that striking conclusion? That it is not certain that cheating actually makes the relationship worse or that it mainly exposes existing problems.

And those existing issues can often remain under the radar until it's too late. According to researchers, you should especially pay attention to the following things: when there are major changes happening or have just happened in a relationship. This could be a move, but also a new job or even β€” unfortunately β€” an upcoming wedding for you as a couple.

When these events are accompanied by more friction, more discussions, and a reduced sense of satisfaction in the relationship, it is time to ring the bell and have a conversation with each other before it is too late.

Also notable: relationships in which cheating occurred often fell apart afterwards (wow), but if it was the woman who cheated, the chance was much greater that the misstep was forgiven.
