The surprising neighborhoods of London

The surprising neighborhoods of London

At the end of last year, I was in London for the first time in years, and it made me realize how much I actually like that city. And also: how big it is. When you look at the map, it seems manageable, but once you're back in the city, it can take some getting used to how gigantic it all is. That's why good planning during your city trip is quite essential, because you don't want to waste time. That would be a shame, because London has so much to offer. Much more than Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. Have you seen all the highlights and want to discover another side of London? I understand, here are the best tips.

1. Greenwich
How busy certain parts of London can be, how nice and calm the atmosphere is in Greenwich; that's something I always find a good change during a city trip. In addition, you also have the beautiful Greenwich Park and Greenwich Market here, both worth visiting. Make sure you are hungry for the latter; there is so much delicious food here. In Greenwich Park, you shouldn't skip the top of the hill, because from there you have a particularly beautiful view of the London skyline.

2. Angel
Believe me: this neighborhood is only going to get more popular in the coming years. For now, there are few really big tourist attractions or museums that are noteworthy. But what you do have? The best dining options, from cozy pubs to fine dining restaurants. And it's also a shopping paradise, so you definitely want to spend a day (or more) here. And if you love vintage, don't miss Camden Passage (every Wednesday and Saturday between nine in the morning and six in the evening).

3. Shoreditch
This is probably a neighborhood you already know, but it is so on the rise that every visit brings new bars, restaurants, or shops. According to the locals, this is now the place to go out, so you know where to be if you want to hit the town in the evening.

4. Primrose Hill
Walking through this neighborhood really feels like a completely different city, or better yet: a village. Everything looks so cute, and you are surrounded by cozy pubs and many restaurants. No fancy nonsense, but lots of locals and a very relaxed atmosphere. Does the name sound familiar? It might: Primrose Hill was featured in, for example, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
