The nicest lunch spots in Utrecht

By

Now that the sun has really broken through, I always enjoy visiting another city on the weekend. I love Amsterdam, but the Netherlands has so much more to offer. And from our capital, you can be in Utrecht in twenty minutes; that city is also full of amazing restaurants. I've lined up my favorite lunch spots for you. Here it's really nice to be.

1. De Watertoren
Bet you’ve never had lunch in such a special place as this? Because as the name suggests, this is indeed a real water tower — and on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, you can come here from 12 noon for an extensive lunch. Expect lots of local and organic products, and dishes that are just a bit different than usual. A must-visit if you have something to celebrate.

2. Le Jardin
One of my favorite spots in Utrecht, because I really like the Mariaplaats. Here, no standard sandwiches, but delicious Mediterranean dishes. You can make it as extensive as you want; they even offer a six-course lunch. Also a tip for a special occasion, and don’t forget to stop by the flower shop after your lunch for a nice keepsake.

3. Fico
On a sunny day, you want to sit here. Right in the sun, in the Veilinghaven, with a cold glass of wine enjoying these special dishes. They were initially only open in the evening, but since last month they are also open for lunch every Saturday. Do make a reservation, as this spot is very popular.

4. Restaurant Wilhelminapark
I always get so happy from hotspots in the city where you really feel like escaping the hustle and bustle, and this is another one of those. With a view of the ponds, an extensive lunch (though you can make it as extensive as you want, of course), rosé on the side, oysters... It's such a joy here. Note: lunch is served until 2:30 PM.
