These films you'll want to watch on Halloween

It is now fully autumn and that means that Spooky Season has begun! For those who don't know what that means: this is the time to embrace everything related to Halloween. A holiday that we here at the editorial office are big fans of, but which unfortunately hasn't really caught on in sober Netherlands yet. All the more important to push through all your spooky activities and especially binge as many scary movies as possible. What else are you supposed to do when the chilly October wind is howling around your house and you get wet just stepping outside? Exactly: stay cozy inside and hide under a blanket with the following films.
The Halloween series
Duh, you just have to see this one and around Halloween is the perfect time to immerse yourself in these films where the terrifying Michael Myers always runs faster than you can run and is impossible to kill.
The Conjuring
This film, based on true events, follows the story of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they investigate a terrifying case in a remote farmhouse. Supernatural, creepy, and blood-curdling.
Get Out
A horror-like look at racism and social issues, and according to many film lovers, a masterpiece. I don't want to spoil too much here, you just have to watch this one.
Us
Never have I felt so uncomfortable while watching a scary movie. I hadn't looked beforehand at what it was about and that was really a very good choice. This film is brilliant and will definitely stick with you for a few days.
The Shining
Do yourself a favor and throw this psychological horror classic into your movie night. Then at least you can say you've seen it.
Hereditary
Bi-zar this film, I recently watched it for the second time and I still feel like I don't fully understand it. Hereditary is truly a slow-burn horror that crawls under your skin and will haunt you for a long time. Highly recommended to the max.
By the way, I also don't quite understand why I put myself through this every time, but there's just something about scary movies that allows me to completely immerse myself in the story and forget all my worries. I know, it's the weirdest fact about me and I never reveal this right away when I meet someone new. Are you a bit more normal, don't like horror, or want to spend a spooky movie night with your kids? Then you can watch the following films:
Casper
Back to your childhood with this sweetest film ever. An absolute must-see.
Corpse Bride
A stop-motion animated film featuring the voices of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (known from Harry Potter and Oceans 8 among others). A fairy tale story about love, death, and marrying a corpse. Sounds creepy, but in reality, it's quite nice.
Beetlejuice
A comedic horror film directed by Tim Burton. The film revolves around a newlywed couple who are haunted by a mischievous ghost who brings them into the bizarre world of the dead.
The Addams Family
You must visit the Addams Family this Halloween. They may be spooky, but they have a big heart, which leads to many comedic moments.
Hocus Pocus
A delightful film featuring a young Sarah Jessica Parker about three resurrected witches trying to capture children to restore their youth, while a group of teenagers does everything to prevent this.
Lots of spooky fun!
