Science says: this drink is the miracle cure for a hangover

Yep, I am that annoying friend who never suffers from a hangover. It doesn't matter what I drink, how much I drink, where I drink: the next day I hardly feel anything. Until two days ago. After five nights out in Mallorca, it was bound to go wrong at some point. And it did. On the day of departure, no less. With trembling hands, I poured my bottle of water into a glass that morning, but not a milliliter was drunk from it. Three times I ran to the bathroom in the middle of the lunch tent with a face as white as a sheet. What was it due to? I have a strong suspicion that it was because of the one and a half liters of Sex on the Beach cocktail from the day before. Oh, and the shots and the sangria. It happens.

In short: I now know how it feels and from now on I fear for my life when I have been drinking. With my intense phobia of vomiting, a hangover is the very last thing I am waiting for. It helps that I have been helping my friends for years to find a remedy for their hangovers. From ORS packets to pickle juice and even vodka: it has all been tried at least once. Fortunately, a miracle cure has now been discovered that does go down somewhat easily.

Research has shown that pear juice from a Korean pear is the way to go. But one thing: you have to drink it beforehand. One large glass of about 220 milliliters to be exact, but with pear juice, I think that’s not a very big challenge for most. The juice from the pear speeds up your metabolism, allowing your body to break down alcohol much faster. It also slows down the absorption of alcohol into your blood. This would make your hangover significantly smaller or even completely stop it. How nice is that?.

So I know what to do for next time I drink. First, I need to recover from this vacation. Seriously, I can't see sangria for months. But well, pear juice to the rescue then. On my way to the Oriental.
