Viral on TikTok: this walking technique is the best for fat burning

If there is one thing I really hate, it's cardio. It's boring, monotonous, and really tough for someone with zero fitness like me. Yet, I always have to do it for half an hour in the gym before I can start on the ‘fun stuff’. Previously, I would always spend fifteen minutes on the cross trainer and fifteen minutes on the stairmaster, but that wasn't really fast enough for me. After I saw the 12-4.8-30 challenge go viral on TikTok, I decided to give it a try as well. It basically means you walk on a treadmill for half an hour. Yes, you heard that right: walking as in cardio. It really seems to work wonders for fat burning.

@liddieliftsalso if you’re wondering, no this wasn’t the only thing i did. i trained 4x a week and did this cardio routine 2-3x a week at the end of my upper body days. *and i usually went longer than 30mins – mostly 45mins-1hr on the treadmill*♬ Originalton – CENKGO

How it works is as follows: you stand on a treadmill, set the incline to 12 percent, then set the speed to 4.8 km/h and do this for half an hour. It almost sounds too good to be true, and that is indeed the case, because after five minutes, the sweat is already on your upper lip. And the worst part is yet to come: you are not allowed to hold onto the handles. So, you have to tough it out. Beginners are even advised to start at a lower level; I did that too since I almost passed out the first time.

One last tip: download an episode of your series on your phone in advance, because you are guaranteed to get bored.
