Wow: Tinder is getting a bizarrely expensive new feature

Good news for everyone with little luck in love and deep pockets: Tinder is coming out with a new feature that significantly increases your chances of finding love. The feature, called Tinder Select, will only be available to one percent of Tinder users and can only be used if you are personally invited. The criteria to receive such an exclusive invitation? You must be among the most active Tinderaars.

If you are part of this lucky few, you unlock a VIP service that allows you to contact anyone on Tinder, including people with whom you have no match. The cost for this service amounts to a bizarre €500 per month, or, if you want to go all in right away, about €5000 per year. Personally, I think it's madness to have to be invited and then also have to pay a hefty sum. It's like a kind of Hermès limited edition bag for unlucky souls in love.

Users who subscribe to Tinder Select will have their profile shown to the most sought-after members of the dating app, to increase the chances of contact with these desirable singles. However, subscribers must provide a verified photo, along with at least four other photos, a biography, five interests, and information about the type of relationship they are looking for.

As you might understand, not everyone is thrilled about this new development. Especially women indicate that they feel unsafe and say that this feature crosses an important boundary. You don't swipe left for nothing if you're not interested in someone. For this reason, as a non-subscriber, you have the option to disable messages from Tinder Select members, and these members can only use the feature to contact a non-match twice a week. A costly deal, indeed!
