The Sunday Blues: this is what you can do about it

I really have a love-hate relationship with Sunday. On one hand, I find it a relaxing day where you often have no obligations (except for your aunt's birthday) and can do whatever you feel like, but on the other hand, I walk around with such an anxious feeling 24/7. There’s a little voice in my head that constantly reminds me that tomorrow the normal workweek starts, full of deadlines. This is also known as the Sunday Blues. It could easily be the song title of a Harry Styles song, but it’s not that cozy either.
What exactly is that? Well, let me explain it to you in detail. The Sunday Blues is a mix of irritability, restlessness, and anxiety for the upcoming Monday. Of course, it makes sense that not everyone is jumping to get up at six in the morning on Monday, but some people are more affected by it than others. If you, like me, are a big stress ball on Sunday, the following tips will surely come in handy.
First, check with yourself why you feel that stress. Is it due to an important deadline or do you have an important conversation with your boss? It can be anything, as long as you know where that anxiety comes from. Then write down all your tasks and obligations and categorize them into lists: things you must do, things that can wait, and things someone else can help you with. By doing this, you gain more control over what is on the agenda for the coming week, and that always gives me a bit more peace of mind.
Another way to get through your Sunday with a little less stress is to do something that makes you very happy, because no one has become better from a whole day of lounging on the couch. So go have lunch somewhere nice, watch a movie in the cinema, or go for a walk; just something that gives you energy. Then you will see that you start looking forward to Sunday more and more, but you could also turn it around by planning something fun for Monday. For example, play a game of padel with friends in the evening or prepare your favorite dinner. This way, you’ll feel just a bit more excited about that tiring Monday. Good luckkk.
