This true crime doc on Netflix leaves viewers furious

As you may already know, I am really a big fan of true crime. I just can't get enough of it, and in all my years of watching true crime documentaries, there is only one exception: I refuse to watch another second of Dear Zachary. That documentary is truly heartbreaking; I was still affected by it for days afterwards. So be warned, if you haven't seen it yet but are curious.

This new Netflix documentary comes pretty close, because Take Care of Maya really touches you deep in your heart. It's so frustrating, you're going to get so angry and tears will flow. Yes, this is another one.

Take Care of Maya is about the Kowalski family, who went to the John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in Florida in 2016 because of ten-year-old Maya. She had terrible stomach pain and was completely desperate.

Once they arrived at the hospital, everything went wrong: Maya's mother, Beata, was accused of child abuse and Munchausen by Proxy, a mental condition where someone fabricates illnesses for another (in this case, the mother for the daughter). Maya was then taken away from her parents and was not allowed to see them for three months while her parents had to undergo a psychological test.

It turned out that Beata had no mental illness, but that result was otherwise pointless: 87 days after Maya was taken from her, she committed suicide.

This case is still ongoing: Maya's father Jack and her brother Kyle will be in court this September because they have sued the hospital for how they handled the situation. Maya also now knows what is wrong with her: she has been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (better known as CRPS). She will also be present in the courtroom because, according to her, she wants ‘justice for her mother.’.

Really a must-see, this doc, but you have been warned: you are going to get so angry about this. I threw things at my TV. If you feel that urge too, make sure it's soft things.
