Bizarre: Selena Gomez received hate comments when she shared this

By

The world needs just a bit more love these days than it used to. With the advent of social media, there is a lot of room for unkind, often jealous, people to share whatever comes to their mind. In a fraction of a second, a mean comment is written and posted, without thinking about the consequences it may have for the person it concerns. This became clear again when Selena Gomez made herself super vulnerable by sharing that she not only has a bipolar disorder but that it is also impossible for her to have children. This is likely related to the fact that she suffers from the autoimmune disease Lupus. She has already had to receive a donor kidney because her own kidneys were not functioning properly.

The fact that a pregnancy would not only endanger her own life but also that of her unborn baby apparently does not matter to some people. There seems to be a group of people who get so angry at someone who chooses not to have children, for whatever reason, that they feel the need to bombard that person with hateful comments. Selena responded very simply to this in the media: ‘Get lost.’ But still, these kinds of things often linger in someone's mind. This week is anti-bullying week, and RTL shared a powerful video in which some of their presenters talk about their experiences with hateful comments and what it does to them. It is super important to pay attention to this, especially now that children are becoming active on social media at a younger age and may not immediately understand what happens to the recipient after such a message is posted.
