A cocktail in a cup: Nespresso for cocktails
One of the things I like most about dining out is that I feel allowed to linger in the restaurant with my dinner date afterwards and enjoy a few Espresso Martinis. Unfortunately, I can say with certainty that making cocktails is not exactly my strong suit, so serving Esma's at a dinner party is not an option for me. At least, that's what I thought. Until I read about L’OUI.
Thanks to this device, making a cocktail is just as easy as brewing a cup of coffee. A Margarita, Espresso Martini, or a mojito: it all comes straight from a cup. The machine determines how much water and ice to add, and within two minutes you have the perfect cocktail in your hand. And of course, you also have the option for non-alcoholic variants.
Unfortunately, we still have to temper our enthusiasm a bit, as the machine is currently too large to set up in your own kitchen. You can already try the cocktails from a cup at places like Republiek in Bloemendaal and Escobar in Amsterdam. The creators are already working on producing a smaller version, so it's just a matter of time before you can serve the best cocktails at home without having to gather all the different ingredients. Just a little more patience...
