Do you want to see: San Feliu de Guixols is the cutest little Spanish fishing village

By

Do you know that feeling when you are on a weekend getaway and suddenly feel completely in love with life again? That the sun is shining just right, you are sleeping in that nice hotel, and you end up at that cool little restaurant where you have that great conversation about life? I do. A case of being in the right place, at the right time.

Some places steal your heart. In the category of Spanish pearls of seaside resorts, I would like to tip you off about the hidden gem: San Feliu de Guixols, a too cute fishing village just above Barcelona. The oldest seaside resort in Spain. Small-scale. Quaint. A place where time still stands still. Where you experience instant peace of mind and want nothing more than a pan of paella by the sea.

San Feliu de Guixols

San Feliu is a perfect stopover if you are making a road trip along the Spanish coast, but also very worthwhile for a weekend getaway (trip to Girona). And since reinventing the wheel is such a hassle, I lovingly whisper to you that we enjoyed our time at Elke Spa Hotel. Especially because of the location. It is right in the center (read: within 2 minutes you are at the beach) with an amazing rooftop terrace and a spa that is to die for. It is a place to fall asleep grumbling, book a massage, and mostly not have to do much else. Except enjoy.

San Feliu de Guixols

And, should you stay at Elke Spa Hotel? These hotspots are within walking distance...

1. Via der Vins, a super cozy wine bar. Be sure to try the olives with anchovies from L’escala, really a thing in Sant Feliu.

2. Definitely stop by El Bauet, the cutest little ceramics shop ever where you will definitely want to score a beautiful bowl. Trust me: the feeling is stronger than you.

3. If you want to have lunch afterwards, La Gabia dels Mussols (translation: the house of the owls) is a nice beach tent.

4. Maison Marcel is the best patisserie for coffee and pastries. Speaking of coffee, ANNNA cafe is also amazing. At the same time a bakery and concept store. Very photogenic.

5. You can really wake me up at night for rice rolls with fresh fish, if you are like me, you will want to go to 220 sushi, for the best gyoza, scallop rolls, and brioche with fresh tuna tartare ever.

6. Can Kiku is a household name in San Feliu. A typical Spanish restaurant for meat lovers with a super cute shop for sausages, cheeses, and oil.

7. Sa Marinada, for a chic lunch or dinner by the harbor. Oooo, what a view.
Have fun in beautiful (and authentic) Spain!
