Everyone is eagerly waiting for this new crime series

Amid all the sugary ‘Emily in Paris’ and ‘Nobody Wants This’ type series, we all want to watch something horrifically exciting every now and then. Now it’s October, so Halloween time. That means not only a lot of thrilling movies, but we can also expect a new Dutch crime series soon. Because on October 16, ‘Nemesis’ is coming to Disney+. Starring none other than our ‘Gooische Vrouw’ Lies Visschedijk!

Do you remember that story about the Jumbo CEO?

The series is not only made in the Netherlands, the plot is also super Dutch. Because not too long ago, it came to light that Frits van Eerd, the big man at supermarket chain Jumbo, was suspected of money laundering and corruption. This thrilling series is based on such bizarre stories. Those mysteries that you know happen in real life too, making it just a bit more exciting to watch. Lies plays Sylvia, a detective at the FIOD, who does everything she can to catch the fraudulent elite for their crimes. But at some point, it becomes very difficult for her…

And yet I also think a bit about Gooische vrouwen

It’s actually a hilarious contrast: Lies, who usually plays that she is part of the elite, is now playing that she is very concerned about everything that elite does wrong. Or well, concerned, she is even trying to gather evidence to have them convicted by the judge. Sometimes it’s quite difficult to see through that. But I also think it’s fantastic that there is such a good Dutch series. I was already a fan of CSI back in the day, and this feels a bit like the ‘adult’ and ‘based on true events’ version of that. Even though this is of course also heavily dramatized and “not based on a true story”… Or is it?
