This island is the best-kept secret of the Mediterranean Sea

Are you already a bit busy planning a trip to the sun? Then I really have a great recommendation for you. It is a destination that is still very undiscovered, but I bet that will change in the coming years. It has all the ingredients for a relaxing holiday: it is beautiful, you can dive, eat well, and it is wonderfully sunny.
There is a chance you have never heard of it: the destination is the island of Gozo. This island belongs to Malta and is called the ‘island of joy’. The biggest attraction was the Azure Window; you will also find it on many postcards and it was a protruding rock, near Dwerja Bay, and you can book various boat trips to it. Unfortunately, this rock collapsed in 2017 due to a storm, but the water remains a beautiful place to visit.

The capital of Gozo is Rabat, which is recognizable by the citadel that towers above the city. It's lovely to wander through, and from the top, you have a beautiful view over the city.
This city is full of nice restaurants and bars; there is really something for everyone. You have tapas restaurants, but also many fish restaurants, rooftop bars, and Italian spots. For such a small island (about 31,000 people live on Gozo), there are really many nice dining options.
Also in terms of activities, it is very diverse: you can dive, climb mountains, kayak, hike, rappel, and jet ski, but you can also relax by the pool or beach. Because luxury is also available: there is even a Kempinski Hotel, one of my favorite chains.

So if you are still looking for a surprising destination? Gozo is definitely very high on my bucket list. By the way, Gozo has no airport; you fly to Malta and then take a boat in less than half an hour to Gozo.
