You really want to have these things sorted out before 2024 is over

The end of the year is in sight, and that brings delightful prospects such as the holidays with all the accompanying quality time, but also the receiving (and giving!) of gifts. It's quite an administration. And then there are a few other things you really want to have sorted before the end of the year. We've already talked about the holiday planning but what I'm going to tell you now is just as important. Trust me, you'll be really glad if you adopt some of these tips.
Moneywise, you really want to have these matters sorted in December
This is the moment to collect all those outstanding payments, pay overdue bills, or pay off your Klarna credit. How nice is it to enter the new year with a clean slate? Additionally, it's also nice to clearly see how much you've spent over the past year on things like clothing, gifts, or dinners. In the new year, it's advisable to keep track of what you spend per category. Many banking apps can do this automatically, and otherwise, Dyme is a super nice service. That's how I found out how ridiculously much money I was spending on ‘just a coffee for the road’, which made me prefer to invest in a nice new to-go coffee cup. That one ailment for which you still wanted to see the doctor.
If you've been dealing with a small pain or ailment for a while that you really wanted to see the doctor about 'just to be sure', it's best to do that before the end of the year. If you've used up your deductible on your health insurance, it saves costs! As long as your appointment takes place in 2024, those healthcare costs will still fall under 2024. It's also very nice to start paying a bit more attention to your health before the end of the year. Start now with the healthy food preps! Because when it gets super busy and you don't have the energy to cook between all the Christmas dinners, you'll be grateful to have a healthy dinner ready for yourself. Food prepping is a healthy habit anyway, as you're less likely to choose to order unhealthy food. And it saves money too. So it's a super good habit to carry into the new year.
Just get those last little things done at work.
A very logical one: wrap up everything you can finish at work before the start of the new year. The things you can't finish, you can already take with you in
the planning you're going to make for next year. This way, you really don't have to think about all those loose tasks and deadlines during the Christmas holidays that are still somewhat on your mind, and you start the new year nicely organized because you know exactly what you want or need to start after the holidays. Nice and productive! Yes, that winter clean-up really can't be missed
Where are you going with all those gifts you're collecting this holiday season? And for me, it also applies that my birthday is between Sinterklaas and Christmas, so an abundance of new stuff! But there needs to be room for that too. So don't postpone that decluttering session any longer. It's very important to be tidy in winter anyway, because a tidy space means a tidy mind, but if that doesn't provide enough motivation, just think of all those gifts you're going to receive. Those books you won't read anymore can go to the mini-library on the corner, old brand-name clothes you no longer wear can go to the vintage store nearby, and everything else can be donated to, for example, the thrift store. That also fits nicely with the Christmas spirit!
