Is ‘the man with 1000 kids’ really not true?

Anyone who hasn't seen the Netflix doc ‘The Man with 1000 kids’ yet needs to hurry up and watch it. At least to see the version everyone is talking about now. Jonathan Meijer has caused quite a few problems with his enormous urge to procreate. He offered himself as a sperm donor through sperm banks all over the world, but also through websites where people are looking for a sperm donor who is open to personal contact with the children when they need it. According to the doc, Jonathan has now fathered more than 1000 children. All over the world, as he also traveled around Europe and America to ‘help’ even more people, as he puts it.

Last week he sat at the table with Eva Jinek in her new talk show, where he proudly announced that he is still a donor. So children are still being conceived with his sperm. Even more children who unknowingly get more half-brothers and -sisters. With an increasing risk of incest, and all the consequences that come with it, such as children with congenital disabilities. Because Jonathan fathered multiple children in one village, whose parents only found out later, and some of them even attended primary school together. It's just bizarre to realize that there is no control over these kinds of services. He can just continue doing what he does, without any consequences.

Now Jonathan has even filed a lawsuit against Netflix. He wants the documentary to be adjusted, because according to him, it's all not that bad. In his opinion, he has ‘only’ fathered a little over 500 children and Netflix has made up a lot to make the doc more appealing to viewers. When you look at him as he explains what his point of view is and where he thinks the mistakes are, such as why what he did isn't that bad, it seems like you're listening to a very reasonable and intelligent person. But when you listen a little better, you can hear through his words that he has quite peculiar ideas and sees the world a bit differently. He doesn't have a realistic worldview, and it's also unlikely that Netflix will comply with his request. But there is of course a chance that if the court looks at the facts, Netflix will have to adjust the doc because they lack sufficient evidence for some parts of it. It remains exciting, as an official complaint has not yet been filed.
