Liam Payne's sister talks about her deep grief
“I heard about his death through a push notification”

Fans worldwide are in deep mourning since the passing of Liam Payne. They find support in each other and in his music. His family is also, of course, struggling immensely with the loss. Earlier, they had already informed the BBC that they were completely broken. Now his sister Nicola is also speaking out. In an emotional tribute to her brother, she shares the painful way in which she heard the news.
A push notification
Anyone who was on social media last Wednesday and Thursday couldn't miss it. One push notification after another appeared about the death of Liam Payne. Many of us will have heard the news that way. Unfortunately, this also applies to Liam's sister Nicola, and as a family member, that is of course extra painful. On her Instagram, she writes: “When I saw the news appear on my phone that you had left us, I felt cold. I so wished this wasn't true.”.
The many criticisms
According to Nicola, Liam was too good for this world and lived to make others laugh and happy. But he had to deal with a lot of criticism. “Unfortunately, this cruel world is always quick to judge someone based on a few 5-second clips.” She refers, among other things, to the footage of Liam at the concert of his One Direction bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires. Here, Liam supposedly demanded way too much attention. Nicola describes how people always talked about her brother as if they knew him, but according to her, only his family really knew him. And they loved him immensely. As a family, they didn't often take photos together because they didn't want Liam to feel like he was with a group of fans, but in reality, they were always his biggest fans. Liam's other sister Ruth also talks about her brother's struggles. According to her, he constantly felt not good enough. She hopes that he can now feel all the love he missed during his life.
A promise to Bear
Both sisters describe the beautiful moments they shared with Liam. How he played them new music, how proud he was to be an uncle, and how he always made them laugh. They end their messages with the promise to take good care of Liam's seven-year-old son Bear. ”We will make sure Bear hears a lot about his father and knows how much you loved him.”
