Oh no! Netflix is going to remove this favorite movie

It's that time again: I feel compelled to clear my weekend to binge-watch Netflix on the couch. Not because I deserve some time for myself, but because Netflix warns us that some things will soon be disappearing. And often, there are things among them that I really enjoy watching.

The Holiday
Even though it feels like summer has just begun, the reality is that autumn is already just around the corner. As soon as the weather cools down a bit and it starts to rain more, one of my sisters is already looking forward to Christmas. I get it, because it is of course the coziest time of the year. You spend a lot of time with family, and it's also lovely to sit by the Christmas tree with warm hot chocolate, or hopefully even walk through the crunching snow. And of course, what also comes with Christmas is that you watch certain movies for the three hundredth time. Netflix is now putting a stop to that. We are forced to watch ‘The Holiday’ in the summer, because after August 31, it's over for this favorite movie.

De Grinch
Another one you really don't want to watch in the summer. ‘The Grinch’ has been one of my son's essentials around Christmas for a few years now. I'm a bit dreading telling him the bad news, but secretly I'm also a little glad because I really don't find this story interesting anymore. Sorry, not sorry.

Bridesmaids
Confession: I've never seen this movie, so maybe this is the moment I should finally give in. I think you have to like movies like ‘The Hangover’, and that's not necessarily where my preference lies. But hey, it's a pretty popular story and there might be a lot of recognizable moments for those who have ever been part of the bridal party.

Erin Brockovich
How can they do this to us, this classic must not be forgotten?! Julia Roberts won an Oscar for Best Actress for her leading role in this film. The true story in which a mother files a huge lawsuit because large companies are polluting drinking water is timeless. Unfortunately, such things still happen in some countries (still in the United States too!), and the emotional story is definitely worth watching while crying in bed.
