So you secretly kind of like autumn a bit

By

After waiting quite a long time for summer, it has suddenly become really autumn again. Who knows, we might still get some late summer weather, but at the moment the rain is pouring down, there are thunderclouds in the sky, and I wake up like an ice cube because it’s suddenly so cold in the morning that I apparently should have already pulled out my winter blanket. But to be fair, autumn also has its fantastic sides. In summer, I sometimes feel guilty if I don’t enjoy a day outside in the sun, but just want to stay cozy inside. The fact that the pressure for most people is much less in autumn already gives a relaxed feeling. But there are many more reasons why autumn is a fantastic season, and I will share a few of my own findings with you. Hoping it helps you with the sudden, hard transition to this next season.

Cozying it up in your little house
If you go out less, it’s nice to make it extra cozy for yourself inside. One of my favorite moments of an autumn day is when you come home soaked from the rain after a long workday. After a warm shower, putting on my comfy couch outfit, and I make sure I don’t have to leave my blanket for the next few hours. What makes it extra nice for me is when I add a few new details to my view from the couch. Think of beautiful, nicely scented candles, a different color of cushions for the couch, or a bunch of autumn-colored flowers.

The best (and actually only) reasons to go outside anyway
It sounds like you have to live like a hermit, and that doesn’t have to be the case at all, but it is quite nice that you could choose that in autumn. As far as I’m concerned, there’s a difference between having to leave the house and wanting to leave the house. And when it comes to wanting, there’s one thing that immediately persuades me to put on my raincoat and bike 10 kilometers through the rain if necessary: the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Yes, I’m that person. But it’s not just the taste of the coffee; it’s also that getting the Pumpkin Spice Latte has become a kind of tradition with my sister. Those kinds of mini traditions make me find autumn a lot cozier. And if you have kids, it’s also fantastic to go old-fashioned chestnut hunting. How fun is it to make autumnal table decorations together? Anyway, the smell of the forest after a heavy rain shower: yes. The advent calendars are here
For those who really can’t get excited about autumn, there’s one last resort: advent calendars. No, you shouldn’t order a cosmetics Christmas calendar now and tear open all the packages like crazy. But now that all the advent calendars are slowly coming online, it does feel like a countdown to Christmas. My sisters and I enjoy ordering the same one every year and dutifully opening one gift each day. The fact that these things are generally not cheap doesn’t matter around Christmas. If you order them now, you’ll probably forget that you spent €150 on products that you probably don’t need and will never use by that time.

Are you really not able to enjoy it? And do you not even get satisfaction from sitting by the window watching people cycle through a downpour while you’re comfortably inside? Then the last resort is booking a vacation to a warm place. If it’s not for the short term, then at least do some research for the summer vacation of 2025. Because eventually, autumn will be over again.
