The Madness is the number one thriller series on Netflix
And this is why

There’s a new sheriff in town… at least on Netflix. Their latest thriller ‘The Madness’ is clearly the biggest and leaves all competition far behind. In this thrilling murder mystery, a journalist must prove his innocence when he witnesses a murder; and in a world full of prejudices, that’s not so easy. Believe me, you want to binge this one.
At the wrong place at the wrong time
Muncie Daniels (Colman Domingo) is a political consultant and writer who is about to get his own show on the American channel CNN. But before he can fully dive into this, he retreats to a house in the woods to write a novel. When he wants to ask his only neighbor for help during a power outage, it turns out to be murdered. The perpetrators are still on the loose and are now also after Muncie. He barely manages to escape and calls the police. But when he takes them to the crime scene, the neighbor's body is nowhere to be found. Muncie suddenly becomes the prime suspect and must prove his innocence. But how do you do that in an (online) world where one conspiracy theory is stranger than the other and you can no longer be sure who you can trust?.
The fight against misinformation
The story from the series may not be true, but the creators drew inspiration from real life. “The Madness is a kind of metaphor for the world we live in now: the world of social media,” says director Clement Virgo. Nowadays, anyone can share the wildest ideas that go viral in no time. In that storm of information, it can be difficult to determine what is true and what is not. According to lead actor Colman, the series aims to motivate people to investigate for themselves and not just believe everything. “The Madness tries to tell us that we need to think about that. Who sows that misinformation? Who is the puppet in all of this?” Just like his character Muncie does, although he doesn’t have much choice.
From second one, you are filled with questions and the series keeps you hooked. For that, we should also give a big round of applause to Colman's acting. ‘The Madness’ is now available on Netflix.
