I always find it nice when you can blame the universe for all the things that go wrong in your life. Sometimes in a figurative sense, but did you know that a midlife crisis is literally written in the stars for everyone? The bad news? You can't escape it. The good news? It will bring you a lot of good.

The midlife crisis
Let's start at the beginning. You're about 27 years old and suddenly it starts to gnaw at you: you're almost 30. Suddenly you start to doubt everything. Did you choose the right career? Are you with the right partner? Is it time to get serious? Why do you suddenly have so many obligations and why does nothing feel like it used to? Recognizable? Then you're dealing with a real midlife crisis. Something that is often treated lightly, but should definitely be taken seriously. That midlife crisis doesn't just come out of nowhere, but has been written in the stars since the moment you were born.

Saturn Return
This has everything to do with the planet Saturn. For everyone born between February 6, 1991, and January 28, 1994, the planet was in the constellation Aquarius at that time. Saturn takes about 27 to 30 years to return to the same position, which means that around your 30th birthday it returns to the same constellation as when you were born. This is also known as a ‘Saturn Return’. You experience this phenomenon about three times in your life, and it is always a moment when a lot happens. For example, people may lose their jobs or their relationships end, and they start to think seriously about how they want their lives to look. This is because Saturn is the planet of authority.

Here's what you can expect during a Saturn Return:

Challenges
So you feel like everything and everyone is against you? That could be true. Challenges are a big part of this astrological phenomenon.

Responsibility
The planet Saturn governs things like structure and maturity, so it's very normal to feel overwhelmed with responsibilities during this period. You will discover which skills you lack to handle this, and you will need to work on that.

Tests
Saturn gives you a test of your own authority. During this period, you may feel like the universe is testing you over and over again, and you have two choices: do something about it or ignore it and let your life drift along.

Existential crises
It may be that for the first time in your life you have no idea who you are or what you want to do with your life. During this period, there is often a huge change, but also growth. It can feel like your life is being completely transformed and you are stepping into a new chapter – this can be so exciting and intimidating that you start to doubt everything.

Growth
What is all this good for? Growth. All these challenges are thrown at you so that you can show yourself, without shortcuts, that you can handle it. This can be difficult and frustrating, but ultimately you will become stronger from it and new opportunities will come your way that you weren't ready for before.

Here's what you can do about it
It's clear: no one can escape this. The only thing you can do is go through it and try to make all the right choices for yourself. Additionally, it's important to realize that some events during your Saturn Return may feel like the end of the world, but in hindsight, they may be the best thing that ever happened to you. Think of the planet as a strict friend who has your best interests at heart and who gives you a push in the right direction, even when you don't quite see which direction you're going. Curious when you will enter your Saturn Return? You can here calculate it.
