You can find this tropical island right in the Netherlands

The most fun anticipation for the summer vacation is perhaps telling others about what you are going to do this holiday, to those who will tell you where they are going. You might even get inspired by it, as is usually the case for me when someone tells me they are going to Thailand, for example. I feel like there are so many directions you can take there, that it is really necessary to listen carefully to your surroundings if you want to discover the most beautiful white beaches of the least touristy ‘bounty islands’.

But this year I am not going abroad at all. That simply has to do with the fact that I currently do not have time to fly halfway around the world. So unfortunately for me, for now, it remains stories from others when it comes to white beaches. Or maybe not? Because I finally got a fantastic white beach tip that you can simply find in the Netherlands! And I am not talking about my beloved Vlieland (although it is also permanently quiet on the beaches there, how that is possible is still a mystery to me). We are talking about Henschotermeer!

You will find this tropical oasis near Amersfoort, it is about a 45-minute drive from Amsterdam. You can of course enjoy swimming in the lake, which forms a circle around a kind of island in the middle, where you can also lie down comfortably. If the kids get tired of swimming, they can go to one of the climbing structures: how fun that they look like stranded pirate ships. And of course, there are nice food stalls to satisfy your summer rosé cravings. What keeps this place so beautiful is that you pay an entrance fee of €3.50, so they can keep maintaining it well. Also the ideal place for the late summer days that will definitely come after the holiday.
