Dieting is out: this is how you tackle healthy eating

Yes, I'm calling it: Diets are so 2023 and therefore totally out. Juice cleanses, skipping meals, and suffering from hunger are just not in anymore. Now I understand that you want to approach things a bit healthier in 2024 and that it's not a bad thing if a few kilos disappear, but the last thing you want to do is put yourself on a strict crash diet. What we will do in the new year is implement small changes to ensure that we eat healthier and feel better in a way that we can actually maintain. So goodbye to diets and see if the following tips suit you.
Eat leafy greens with two meals every day
Spinach and lettuce are packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and it's so easy to add them to your meals. I'm a big fan of spinach in a smoothie and I'm the queen of arugula. It really makes everything taste better: salads, pastas, risottos, and even sandwiches. Give it a try and thank me later.
Choose healthy drinks
Think of green tea, vegetable juices, or water with some lemon and mint. Experiment with nutrient-rich drinks and you'll see that you drink more, which will definitely make you feel better. Pro tip for all the shopaholics among us: treat yourself to a nice drink cup to make this new habit a bit more enjoyable.
Eat fruit at breakfast
If you start the day healthy, it will really be easier to end the day healthy as well. At least, that's always the case for me. Fruit is packed with antioxidants, minerals, and fiber, and that's exactly what your body needs to give the day a successful start.
Listen to hunger signals
Leave the trends of intermittent fasting and strict eating rules behind. Eat when you're hungry, focus on nutritious meals, and listen to your body to determine when you're full. Skipping meals is really never a good idea; you deserve to enjoy your food.
Add more water-rich foods to your diet
Eat foods with a high water content, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and berries. They provide hydration and extra nutrients. Your skin will thank you!
Try new vegetables weekly
Not a fan of vegetables? Challenge yourself to try new vegetables weekly to discover what you do like. If you really don't like something, don't force yourself to eat it. We're adults now and we can still have dessert if we don't want to eat our Brussels sprouts.
Fill most of your plate with unprocessed foods
That includes fruits, vegetables, whole grain products, nuts, and seeds. These foods are high in fiber, super healthy, and ensure that you feel full longer and have fewer sugar cravings.
Enjoy your favorite foods
Food is not good or bad; it's at most nutritious and less nutritious. However, a healthy lifestyle also means being able to enjoy the food you love. Bread, pasta, burgers, fries, or chips: you really don't have to avoid them all the time. Listen to your body and don't deny yourself everything that makes you happy. Allowing yourself to enjoy without guilt is just as important as making sure you get enough vegetables and fruit.
