This is the girlfriend of footballer Wout Weghorst

Even if you don't like football and stayed as far away from the TV as possible during the match of the Dutch national team against Poland yesterday afternoon, you still couldn't have missed who Wout Weghorst is. Just at the moment when we all thought the match would end in a 1-1 draw, Wout jumped onto the field to score the winning goal. As always, the footballers are bombarded with all sorts of serious questions about the match after the game, but the sweetest story came from Wout himself: he had called his girlfriend in the afternoon and visualized with her how he would enter the field to score that winning goal. His girlfriend has quite a bit of (supernatural) power when it comes to his career, so I thought it would be nice to take a look at who our Wout is actually talking about.

The search was not as easy as I expected. I am used to starting these kinds of investigations on someone's Insta profile, but on Wout's it was not super clear to see who his great love is. But the persistent one wins. Her name is Nikki van Esch, and she is probably one of the few football wives who has her Instagram set to private. That always makes me extremely curious, and that curiosity is often used by many influencers, but with Nikki I believe that is not her intention at all. She is just a young woman who is happy with her family and doesn't need to show off on social media.

And maybe that makes sense. Social media brings a lot of hassle, especially if your man is one of the best players of the Dutch national team, so I also think it's nice that she prefers to stay a bit in the background. Wout and Nikki have been a couple since high school, how cute is that? They have been together for 13 years now. They are parents of three girls and the fourth child is on the way. If this is again a girl, that would be quite funny: Wout himself comes from a family of four boys. In short, Nikki is the great support and mainstay of our top striker; if she and Wout also visualize together how we will take the cup back to the Netherlands at the end of this European Championship, then I am really a fan of hers.
