This is the most popular Airbnb on Instagram (and you don't sleep on the floor)
For vacation inspiration, Instagram is the place to be. On Italiamo, of course, even better, but so be it. We are going to talk about Instagram and Airbnb, because Airbnb released a list of the most liked Instagram posts on their own page, which are of course listings to rent on Airbnb. Among them is a special stay that you may have seen before with us; Casa Barthel captured the most hearts of 2023.

So we already included it in our list treehouses in Italy. Casa Barthel is located in the quiet area just outside Florence. In the picturesque landscape of Tuscany, while you can be in front of the Duomo in no time or in a vineyard where Chianti is made. And your bed is high up in a tree.
In the 1980s, the Barthel family took up residence on the estate called Poggio Secco, ‘dry hill’, with a farmhouse surrounded by olive trees and cypress trees. There was a compost hub, a pigeon loft, a barn, and an old German shepherd. The estate has since become a small community. A place for friends, family, and guests where you can experience rural life in different houses. Whether the shepherd is still there, I don't know. He must be very old by now, because he was already old according to the description back then.

The nicest of those houses (and thus the most popular, at least in terms of looks) is the Tree House, a romantic room among the trees with a queen-size bed, kitchenette, and private terrace overlooking that living painting around you. Wifi is only available in the courtyard, but its use is pleasantly discouraged. A night in the treehouse also gives you access to the communal pool, tennis court, barbecue, and wood oven.
Also on Airbnb's own website, the treehouse receives a nice score of 4.89 out of 5 stars, based on 707 reviews from people who have actually been there. There is still plenty of availability in the coming year. So: feel like sleeping in the trees? This is your chance.
