The top 10 most drunk cities in Europe

You often notice that the English can drink when you go out for an evening in the city, and standard party spots like Lloret de Mar are booked for the exam trip. But there are more cities that enjoy a drink. Do you feel like an extra drink without the people around you looking at you as if you are crazy? Then visit the cities on this list, because these are the most drunken cities in the world.

In 10th place is Sofia, in Bulgaria, followed by Stuttgart at 9. Cologne is at 8 and then we have Frankfurt at 7. Three German cities in a row. Could that perhaps say something about the Germans in general? Riga in Latvia occupies the sixth place, and at 5 is a city I hadn't heard of until now, namely Vilnius in Lithuania. And, surprise, at 4 is yet another German city. This time it's Hamburg. The fact that number 3 is also Berlin, well, I don't know, indicates that the Germans do officially enjoy a few pints of beer here and there. Not surprising either, with that super cozy Oktoberfest. But let's look at the hard numbers: four out of five people in Germany drink alcohol, and they also have at least one night every few months where they really go all out.

Now there must be two countries that have really made an effort to land in the number 1 and 2 spots. Not totally surprising probably is that the Irish in Dublin have ensured that their small country ranks so high on this list. More than 80 percent of the population there enjoys a few drinks from time to time. And preferably Guinness of course, as that is the house brand of the Irish. And who takes home the first place? The Czechs in Prague. Congratulations, you have managed to drink an average of 481 beers per person per year. And if you feel like a fun active city trip to Prague? Then look very carefully for activities that do NOT involve drinking alcohol. Apparently, it really is their all-time favorite hobby.
