This is what the real Griselda looks like

Everyone is currently talking about Griselda on Netflix, starring Sofia Vergara. We've never seen her like this: as a powerful, dangerous Colombian drug lord. Fortunately, we are now seeing this side of her, because she is amazing in this role. By the way, she is also happy about it; Sofia Vergara mentioned in a recent interview that she doesn't actually get offered many different roles (or get to audition for them), but mainly roles like Gloria in Modern Family. She suspects that this is because of her heavy accent; that directors are therefore hesitant to give Vergara more serious roles.

Hopefully, her portrayal of Griselda has now reached an end because once again: I think she is fantastic in this role. However, to be fair... This portrayal has little resemblance to the real Griselda Blanco in terms of looks. Because yes: the series is based on true stories and Griselda herself actually existed (she passed away in 2012).

Several characters from the series are based on real people, such as June Hawkins. The character of Carla is completely made up by the creators at Netflix, so not everything should be taken as fact. The truth looks very different; Griselda actually had nothing in common with the beautiful Sofia Vergara.

Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it's interesting to see what she really looked like. Want to know what the most dangerous drug lord in Colombia looked like? If we are to believe the series, even Pablo Escobar was afraid of her. Here it comes: will the real Griselda please stand up?
