This reality series is my new guilty pleasure

Because I am generally quite curious, I had been investigating ‘MomTok’ for a while. I saw posts online from people who were outraged by the mothers who founded MomTok, as there had been all sorts of incidents in that group. Even though I had never heard of MomTok, I had to know what it was all about. And boy, was I in for a treat. The Disney+ reality soap ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ immediately made it onto my list of ‘series I have binged’.
We need to start at the beginning. MomTok was founded by Taylor, who grew up with the Mormon faith. FYI: that is quite a strict faith. For example, you are not allowed to drink coffee, alcohol, or even tea. Women are raised to be housewives and always be submissive to their husbands. The women of MomTok wanted to change this. They wanted to ensure that women became visible in the community and break free from the existing rules. Some of them had to get married and have children when they were just 16 years old. I can imagine that you wish for a different kind of life for your own children.
But MomTok got a bit out of hand. Or rather: it got quite out of hand. Because besides the disapproval from their families, scandals came to light that ultimately involved the whole world. I won't spoil too much, but they transformed from respectable Mormon girls to TikTok moms doing fun dances, to swingers performing all sorts of sexual acts in public with another MomTokker's husband. This is exactly what you want to see, right? There are 8 episodes on Disney+, so you can enjoy it for a while.
