This sport is hot again among celebs

Forget padel and pilates, because horseback riding is completely back among the celebs. Intensive jumping, leisurely rides through nature, or graceful dressage. Thanks to the Olympic Games, where horseback riding took place on the grounds of Versailles, its popularity has received a boost again.

Models Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are true horse lovers. They rode over the Place Vendôme during ‘Vogue World: Paris’. Of course in style in matching outfits from Hèrmes, even the animals wore a Hèrmesscarf. Kendall previously told Vogue that she has always loved the sport. She was 2 when she first sat on a horse, and 4 when she started taking lessons. According to Kendall, there are many benefits to horseback riding: it’s good exercise, it’s calming, and it encourages you to spend more time outdoors. And she is absolutely right, with just one hour of riding you burn about 235 calories and it boosts your self-confidence. For her personally, it also has a nostalgic aspect, something that makes her feel like a child again.

Gigi also started at a young age and even grew up on a ranch; as a teenager, she competed in competitions. That love has never faded. On her social media, we still regularly see Gigi with horses and she shares photos from the past, expressing how much she misses that time. Her sister Bella has been dating rider Adan Banuelos since last year and is living on a ranch in Texas again. The entire Hadid family is completely in love with it, and even mom Yolanda has her own horses.

They are not the only ones rediscovering the sport. Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen bought a horse farm last year so she could ride in peace with her children. Actress Julia Roberts also has a ranch with her own horses in New Mexico, where she regularly retreats.

I totally get it. Completely relaxing while you exercise and looking great in those cute cowboy boots, it doesn’t get better than that. All horse lovers here in the Netherlands can also look forward to one of the biggest events in the country. Jumping Amsterdam is coming up and tickets will be on sale starting next Tuesday. During this event, riders from home and abroad come to the RAI in Amsterdam for competitions and spectacular shows. January 23 to 26, mark it in your calendar.
