The true nature of these celebs comes out in Special Forces

By

‘Special Forces’ is really a series that I would binge if I didn't have to wait for a new episode every week. The mix of celebs participating, from top athletes to reality stars, makes it fun to see how these different types of people interact. All of them carry backpacks with kilos of stuff (what stuff, nobody knows) through the desert in the same uniform. All participants are reduced to the basics and are only referred to by number, their name no longer matters.

Running around with all that stuff in the desert seems incredibly heavy to me, but the participants are subjected to even much heavier tests. What I found most intense so far is the moment they were locked up for hours in barrels in the middle of the desert, in the scorching heat, without knowing what time it was or how long it would last. The only thing they had with them was drinking water.

And that was also the moment I saw Bizzey from a completely different side. Sitting on his knees with bound wrists and a bag over his head, he started to sob and tell that he was afraid of the dark and therefore had to give up. Bizzey, who flew all over the world as part of the DJ formation Yellow Claw, is afraid of the dark. I wanted nothing more than to wrap an arm around him and tell him that it would be okay.

Just as Bizzey surprised me with this vulnerable information, Maria Tailor surprised me in a totally different way. Probably more people have the same prejudice about this ‘Real Housewives of Amsterdam’ star, but wow, what strength and perseverance is in that woman. On day 1, she came in with perfectly styled hair, on day 3 she crawled through the mud pit for the umpteenth time without complaining. Sleeping on camp beds without complaining about sleep deprivation, eating a strange mush from a kind of take-out cup, and not knowing that tomorrow she would have to jump out of a helicopter without crying. I wonder if I could handle it.
