According to new research, dogs find this the most fun to watch on TV

So you thought your loyal four-legged friend was totally fine with you binge-watching Married At First Sight or Temptation Island? Well, that's absolutely not true: even dogs have a preference for what's on TV. Hilarious, right? This was researched at the University of Wisconsin, by researcher Freya Mowat — she studies at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Seems like a fun study to conduct, but well, we already have results. Maybe I can do the same, but then for cats.

The research highlighted a few important points. Younger dogs find it much more enjoyable to watch TV than older dogs. The older the dog, the less they need all those busy images. Makes sense: those old Labradors just need some peace.

The more active dogs continue to enjoy TV into later age; so if you have, for example, an Australian Kelpie, you can easily plan a movie night, regardless of age. Although... The average attention span of a dog is five minutes, so maybe a YouTube video is a better idea.

But then the big question: what are we going to watch? I found this perhaps the funniest outcome: dogs seriously enjoy watching animal videos the most. Now I knew that was good for our health, but that our pets enjoy it the most... Isn't that just too sweet?

Even better: they preferred watching other dogs, the breed doesn't really matter. Interestingly, they didn't find videos with people very interesting. Then I have the golden middle ground: watching Hachi with your dog. And then prepare tissues for both, because that's going to be crying. Maybe even for your dog, because they experience so much more than we think.
