This ‘vampire feature’ on your iPhone could be draining your battery

No matter how happy I am with my iPhone (yes sorry, I could never become a Samsung user), sometimes I can really curse that thing. I leave, I have fully charged it, I arrive at my destination and suddenly the battery is at 60 percent. How is that possible?! The only thing I did was listen to music and maybe made a call. And that was at most half an hour, so that 40 percent makes no sense at all.
It started to irritate me so much that I went on a quest for answers. And what turns out? Your phone has a kind of ‘vampire setting’ that can completely drain your battery. Fortunately, there is something you can do about it and I can tell you: I seriously feel like it works for me, so I highly recommend you do this too.
The setting isn't really called ‘vampire setting’ (although that would be a good name), the culprit is actually called WiFi Assist. This feature ensures that your phone automatically switches to your 4G or 5G when your WiFi is slow or has an outage. Handy, especially if you're watching YouTube, but this is really detrimental to your battery.
Here's how to turn it off: go to Settings, then to Mobile Network and scroll all the way down. There you will see WiFi Assist — and you need to turn that off. I did that right away, and when it was still on, I saw that I had consumed 1.9 GB this month: quite a waste. Good for your battery and for your usage.
