You don't want to miss these 5 series on Apple TV

By

One of those frustrating moments in life, and super recognizable for almost everyone around me: you come home after a long day at work, and you just feel like starting a nice, fun, new series. Something you don't know yet, but that you also don't want to have to get used to for too long. No one wants to scroll for hours, so before you know it, you end up putting on ‘Friends’ again. Just because at least you know for sure that you will enjoy it. I'm here to help you think outside the box. Because there are so many more fun series to find, but you have to look a little further than your nose is long. Open that Apple TV app, and give these series a chance. They won't disappoint.

The Morning Show
For those who need a soft landing when transitioning from ‘Friends’ to something new, ‘The Morning Show’ is a recommendation. You are immediately greeted by a familiar face: Rachel, or well, her real name is of course Jennifer Aniston, plays one of the presenters of an American talk show. The series also addresses the ‘Me Too’ theme, and what that has to do with the pressure involved in making such a show. Since I also work in the TV world, it's funny and recognizable to see, but it's clearly a series that is appreciated by everyone outside the media as well, as it scores an 8.2 on IMDb.

Black Bird
Fans of Prison Break in the house? This series immediately reminded me of that, because the ingredients are somewhat similar: a super handsome man is in prison, knows that he will probably have to stay for about 10 years, but wants to do everything he can to get out. But in this story, he does it in a semi-honest way. He has to ensure that a fellow inmate confesses to his crime, and then he will be released. Exciting, right? Black Bird is rated 8.1 on IMDb.

Shrinking
It may sound sad, but it's also mainly hilarious: a psychologist loses his wife and decides to take a completely different approach. He still does his job, but suddenly he starts to get much more involved in the lives of his clients. This leads to hilarious and beautiful moments. This series gets an 8.0 from the audience on IMDb.

Slow Horses
Imagine, you have a really cool job at the British secret service, but you mess things up so badly that they would prefer to get rid of you. Not that they really want to eliminate you, but it would suit your employer well if you voluntarily left. That's exactly what this series is about. A group of people who end up working in the dullest department of the secret service because they are just not good enough, hoping that they will get so bored that they leave. But this group accidentally gets involved in a very exciting case. The high level of espionage and mystery ensures that this series gets an 8.2 on IMDb.

Lessons in Chemistry
If you, like me, are a bit feminist, you will love this series. It's about a female chemist in the 1960s who is going to present a cooking show. In her program, she measures the ingredients of her recipes almost as precisely as when composing her chemical brew. You follow her story in this drama series. Intense, because in the 1960s it wasn't easy to want to be a woman with a career. This series also scores an 8.2.
